Ask for an assessment

You get a written assessment back, within two working days. It costs you nothing, and nobody phones you.

What you send us stays between us, and it leaves here as your files.

Figure

A grid thirty-three cells wide, with the alphabet's rules marking your drawing as you go.

Every figure drifting behind this site started on this grid. Thirty-three cells a side, no half tones. A cell is on or it is off.

The rules mark themselves beside the grid. They are not our taste.

They are measurements. How much ink the figure holds, whether the stroke survives, whether a counter-form closes inside it, whether the shape holds when it drops to eleven cells.

What you draw jumps to the field behind the page. Same engine, taking your figure instead of ours.

The grid

Drag to paint. Switch to erase when you want a cell back. On a keyboard, arrows move and the space bar turns a cell on or off.

Column 17, row 17, off

At eleven cells

Ink: 0 cells

The rules

  • Ink Between 60 and 420 cells
  • Stroke A stroke 2 to 3 cells wide
  • Counter-form A closed counter-form
  • Eleven Legible at eleven cells

Send it in

If you make a figure that holds, send it. We look at all of them. The ones that make the alphabet keep your name beside them. No promise of a reply.

The figure as text

This is how the figure travels with JavaScript off. Thirty-three lines of thirty-three characters, a full stop for off and a hash for on.
